Drone defense:

TYTAN Technologies for the German Armed Forces

10/08/2025By Redaktion

The Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) and Munich-based company TYTAN Technologies have signed an agreement to jointly develop a novel demonstrator for protecting Bundeswehr properties against threats from unmanned aerial systems (UAS).

The aim of the project, which is being led by the German Armed Forces' innovation laboratory in Erding, is to develop a defense system against threats from medium-sized UAS with medium range. The aim is to effectively protect critical German Armed Forces infrastructure.

Der Einsatz eines Demonstrators wird ausgewertet.

The core of the approach is the fusion of different types of sensors, effectors, and command and control components (C4 technologies). The contractor is contributing its AI-supported interceptor drones, which have already been successfully tested under operational conditions in Germany and abroad. These interceptor drones will be able to autonomously detect and precisely combat approaching UAS. The development cost-effectively closes a capability gap in the defense against unmanned threats.
In the coming months, a system demonstration will be prepared to show how the integration of innovative interceptor drones with established sensor and C4 technologies can create an effective protective shield for Bundeswehr properties.
