TYR Tactical: The plate carrier specially designed for women

Women have different physical characteristics than men, that's for sure. It is therefore surprising that there has not been a plate carrier specifically designed for the female anatomy. In 2012, TYR Tactical began developing their female plate carrier. They wanted to offer a system that was specifically designed for the female body shape rather than just fitting a woman into a smaller version of a male-style carrier.

Current female systems lacked the ability to provide proper plate pockets. The placement of the plate did not lie flat on the torso of female wearers. It was at the wrong angle and put pressure on the breast tissue. Ultimately, this affects the ballistic performance of the plate and soft armor.

The solution: On the front of the "female" Plate Carrier is a plate pocket with side pleats. This pocket relieves the body of tensions and pressures that are normally exerted on the body by hard plates in typical plate pocket configurations. This increases the range of motion for the wearer to provide better ergonomics and performance. Additionally, the use of airflow chamber technology generates fewer hot spots on the body. Furthermore, the cut in the armpit area has been adjusted to provide better protection.
