The Czech Ministry of Defense cancels procurement process for BVP replacement vehicles as none of the proposals met requirements. Bids from Rheinmetall, GDELS, and BAE Systems lacked technical data and cooperation info.
The Czech Ministry of Defense has announced that none of the three proposed vehicles for replacing the BVP met the requirements of the tender, so the ongoing procurement process has been cancelled. Czech authorities stated that this decision was made after the work of the 15-member expert committee that reviewed the bids for the contract. According to the committee, the bids submitted by Rheinmetall, GDELS, and BAE Systems cannot be evaluated due to inaccuracies and deficiencies in the technical data, as well as incomplete information about cooperation with the Czech industry. The companies involved were informed today that the evaluations had been halted.
The contract, which Lynx KF41, Ascod 2, and CV90 MkIV competed for, envisioned the delivery of 210 tracked ICVs at a price of 2 billion dollars, with 40% to be invested in Czech DTIB. The delivery of the first vehicles was originally planned for 2022 but has been postponed to 2026 due to several delays in the project. It is unknown if this decision will also affect Slovakia, where a similar tender is ongoing.
