TRAINING: New on the field - LIGHT INFANTRY

07/24/2023By Redaktion

This summer, a new field player is entering the training landscape: LIGHT INFANTRY International. The provider aims to cover the complete skill set of modern infantry and starts with four thematic areas. The target audience includes military units of NATO (partners) and their members, as well as the defense industry in these countries. All course formats are available in German and English. Some formats are also open to civilians. The founder and Black Book author Christian Väth – previously known from DIE LEHRMANUFAKTUR and Akademie 0/500 – has assembled a new training team to implement this program. The offerings don't just end with training, as there is also a Battle Lab to support companies through cost- and time-efficient pre-trials that can precede an official troop testing. The personnel, known as the Battle Lab Cadre, consists of handpicked infantry from different nations as well as civilian industry experts. Even armed forces can benefit from this, exploring and testing tactics and technologies for the wars of the future in an open-minded manner. An associated podcast on Patreon will launch in 2023, on the first Advent.

Mindset

To become an infantryman, one needs the right mindset. LIGHT INFANTRY offers two complementary training concepts to develop the necessary Combat Mindset in civilian and law enforcement participants. Both formats focus on the psychological impact of Force-on-Force training – unlike training on the shooting range, the enemy shoots back here. The standard "Combat Mindset Course" format uses Gas Blowback Pistols (Glock 19X) in defensive scenarios. With proven methods from Gabriel Suarez, Andy Stanford, Paul Howe, and others, participants experience elevated heart rates in all lighting conditions. In the advanced "Applied Violence Course" format, the training shifts to offensive tactics with the rifle, both individually and in fireteams.

Leadership & Tactics

The core of the tactical training at LIGHT INFANTRY is organized around fundamental infantry topics. Naturally, only members of active units or reserve forces are allowed to attend. Some events such as the "Ambush Course" and the "Assault Course" are scheduled for 2024, with others planned for 2025. The motto "Always simple, never easy" reflects a focus on moving away from flashy tactics and returning to simple, proven methods while integrating modern innovations. Following the motto "Leadership is the single most important factor," Light Infantry International ensures that training always includes leadership development.

Marksmanship

In its first year of operation, LIGHT INFANTRY offers five new training formats focused on marksmanship that can be booked directly for 2024. In addition to the foundational "Marksmanship Instruction" module open to all, the program also includes specialized courses. The flagship offerings are a condensed training for rifle shooters within a 4-man squad ("Light Infantry Rifleman") and a course to qualify shotgun shooters as Point Men ("Point Shotgun Course"). These two formats go beyond teaching shooting skills and also incorporate content on leadership and tactics.

Military History

Those who seek to study the future of war must first understand what happened in the past. That's why LIGHT INFANTRY offers annual battlefield tours called BATTLEFIELD, which build on the content of the Military Strategy & Tactics seminar from DIE LEHRMANUFAKTUR.
