He provides coaching to soldiers, police officers, firefighters, and other emergency response personnel to help them prepare for various selection processes and aptitude tests. The goal is not only to improve fitness but also to develop mental strength. Here, you will learn what to consider when tactically optimizing fitness for soldiers.
Soldiers, police officers, firefighters, and other emergency response personnel dedicate themselves to their country with a high degree of enthusiasm and professionalism. Particularly challenging missions and the required equipment serve as incentives for these personnel to strive for entry into special units. However, the requirements in admission processes are high and mean the end of the road for many candidates dreaming of advancement. Niklas Voß knows these challenges well and has developed coaching programs through PPF Germany for soldiers, police officers, firefighters, and other emergency personnel to prepare them optimally for their upcoming aptitude tests. Niklas Voß has revealed essential tips for soldiers to follow in order to tactically improve their fitness. More training knowledge can be found in "The Tactical Athlete":
Tip 1: Tactical athletes need a professional athlete mindset
One thing is certain: Elite soldiers and soldiers in special units operate at a similar level to professional athletes. After all, their fitness is also their life insurance. However, the circumstances under which soldiers train are much more challenging. Professional athletes have access to various experts such as trainers, nutritionists, psychologists, and advisors. Soldiers, on the other hand, are on their own and must maintain their fitness year-round. Furthermore, missions, exercises, and training sessions at home and abroad complicate training even more. For this reason, tactical athletes are considered among the most challenging to train. Unlike professional athletes, soldiers must excel simultaneously in various disciplines, including endurance and strength training, swimming, marching, and running. Therefore, it is crucial for soldiers to have high self-standards in order to carry out their training effectively.
Tip 2: Train as you fight – but do it right
Essential for successful training is for soldiers to train under the same conditions they could encounter during missions. However, this does not mean training with body armor all the time, risking injuries. Instead, analyzing one's own movement patterns on duty can help identify major weaknesses. With targeted training and specific exercises, it is then possible to improve these weaknesses and ensure optimal preparation.
Tip 3: Regeneration and injury prevention
For emergency response personnel, their body is their capital and serves as their most important tool at work. Soldiers, police officers, firefighters, and other emergency personnel often push themselves to their limits - injuries are sometimes unavoidable. Therefore, it is crucial to develop an awareness of possible severe consequences due to injuries and the importance of regeneration. In this context, sufficient sleep and optimal nutrition should also be emphasized. This becomes particularly crucial in shift work, as fatigue measurably increases the risk of injury. For tactical athletes, considering regeneration as important as training itself is vital for optimal results.
