UkrArmoTech has begun factory testing of its “Skiff” armored personnel carrier prototype. Given the highly praised performance of the M113 in Ukrainian service, the Ministry of Defense itself has set the requirements for a domestic equivalent with better protection and increased firepower.
The vehicle has an estimated weight of 15 tons and is powered by a 360-horsepower engine. In terms of protection, it features STANAG Level 4 armor at the front, Level 3 on the sides, and mine protection of Levels 3A and B. In terms of armament, the vehicle will be equipped with a remote-controlled weapon system (RWS) that includes either a .50-caliber machine gun or a 14.5-mm machine gun with a coaxially mounted 7.62-mm machine gun.
