The P13 is ready to go

The Bundeswehr’s new service pistol, the P13, has successfully completed the integrated validation process. This demonstrates that it is suitable for its intended military use. The way is now clear for the delivery of the first production units to the troops.

As part of the “Pistole querschnittlich” (P13) project, the Bundeswehr is procuring a new service pistol in 9×19 mm caliber. It will replace the P8 pistol, which was introduced in 1994. POL-TEC GmbH & Co. KG, a German distribution partner of the Czech manufacturer Ceská zbrojovka (CZ), was awarded the contract for the delivery. The P13 is a variant of the CZ P-10 C OR (Optics-Ready) pistol in Flat Dark Earth color.

The P13 is a pistol with a striker-fired system, meaning it features consistent trigger pull resistance throughout the entire firing cycle. It is specifically tailored to military requirements and is characterized by high durability under extreme conditions. Key features include an ergonomic design for secure control and high accuracy, as well as exceptional reliability. Thanks to its modular design, the P13 can be quickly adapted to different mission profiles.

The Budget Committee of the German Bundestag had approved the necessary budgetary funds on November 5, 2025. Consequently, the validation testing and finalization of the design were completed in less than twelve months. “This success was only possible thanks to the excellent and constructive cooperation of all project participants,” comments Nina K., project manager at BAAINBw.

The safety mechanisms of the weapon were also tested during the validation process. Nina K. added: “Drop tests were part of these investigations. In all situations, the safety mechanisms fully fulfilled their function. With the P13, the Bundeswehr is receiving a modern and reliable weapon that brings the troops up to the current state of the art.”
