The new FN ARKA assault rifle

FN – the iconic brand of FN Browning Group’s Defence & Security division, which includes FN Herstal, FN UK and FN America – is proud to introduce the FN ARKA®, a next-generation rifle platform that leverages AR-15 ergonomics to meet the demands of modern military and law enforcement professionals.

Backed by over 135 years of expertise in small arms design and manufacturing, and inheriting the unique rifle development legacy of the iconic FN® FAL and FN SCAR®, the FN ARKA® provides great versatility for armed forces, police, and security services, delivering highly performant, intuitive, and mission-ready technology.

The FN ARKA® retains the accurate, durable and reliable mechanical systems of the FN SCAR® while replacing its standard architecture with the ergonomics of the AR-15 with enhanced ambidextrous controls. This provides a powerful synergy of the best features of both platforms.

Leveraging FN’s expertise in short-stroke piston systems, the new FN ARKA®, available in 5.56x45mm NATO calibre, is the only platform to integrate familiar AR-15 ergonomics with the unmatched accuracy and battle-proven durability and performance DNA of the military-grade FN SCAR®, ensuring total functional reliability in the most austere environments.

The FN ARKA® rifle is underpinned by both our legacy in precision engineering and our commitment to comprehensive mission support
throughout the entire product lifecycle. To maximise operational readiness, we provide end-to-end technical support, including specialised armourer certification and user training delivered by FN subject matter experts to ensure the platform remains mission-ready from day one.

Designed differently 

The FN ARKA® rifle has been engineered specifically to bridge the gap between mechanical reliability and operator intuition. By integrating a short-stroke piston system that has been proven in the harshest operational conditions, the platform achieves a level of unequalled reliability and cleanliness, even when running suppressed. This is further refined by an FN-fully qualified flow-through suppressor, which utilises advanced gas management to protect the user from blowback while ensuring the weapon’s cycle remains consistent and flat.

The architecture of the FN ARKA® prioritises the ergonomics of high-speed movement. Every touchpoint, from the T-shaped charging handle and forward assist to the fully ambidextrous magazine release and firing selector, is positioned to minimise transition times and reduce physical fatigue. Furthermore, the inclusion of a 100% ambidextrous bolt catch supports the operator whether they are working from behind cover or switching shoulders dependent on the situation.

Durability is a verified standard from FN; the FN ARKA® has been rigorously tested. Constructed from high-grade materials and featuring an adjustable gas block for maximum adaptability, the system is designed to thrive in challenging environments. Whether the rifle is subjected to deep mud, water, or fine sand, the FN ARKA® is confirming its reliability, long part life and high pressure safe capability.

Several configurations available

The FN ARKA® comes standard with either a 14.5” standard barrel and a short or long M-LOK handguard, or a 11.25” CQC barrel and short M-LOK handguard. All configurations are available in FDE or black colour, and with selective fire or semi-auto only triggers. The rifle can be fitted with any AR compatible buttstock or pistol grip.

As part of our total commitment spanning over 135 years, we also offer a wide range of FN and third-party accessories that can be mounted onto the long Picatinny top rail – including red dot sights, magnifiers, lights, blank firing attachments and simulation kits –, as well as added value services such as the unique FN SMARTCORE® predictive maintenance solution and the FN VICTOR® marksmanship training system, ensuring users have access to cutting-edge technology and support for every scenario.
