In his 2025 Christmas address, Italian Army Chief of Staff Carmine Masiello announced the introduction of the BERETTA NARP rifle, replacing older models. Special forces will receive the new rifle first, followed by the army. Additionally, the army is transitioning to a new multi-cam camouflage pattern called “Altimetricro F,” phasing out the Vegetato design.

The Italian Army is undergoing restructuring, and this does not only apply to tanks and armored personnel carriers. The armament of the troops is also changing. It comes as no surprise that BERETTA is replacing BERETTA here. The current AR-70 models and the unconventional ARX-160 from the “Soldato Futuro” program are now being followed by the NARP. The new assault rifle will initially be issued to special forces and then to the entire army. The NARP – presented at DSEI 2023 – is in step with the times and looks like an AR15 system from the outside, but has a slightly different interior. HERE you can find all the information about the BERETTA NARP.

The Italians can't do without fashion, which is why the army is also undergoing a major visual change: starting this year, Vegetato will be phased out as a camouflage pattern and become history. Each year, 70,000 new sets will be issued in a multi-cam pattern called “Altimetricro F.” Here, too, the Italians are moving with the times and now have their own Multicam. Below is an illustration of “Altimetricro F” and a picture of a trial set for troops at Col. Moschin.
