The American for the British
The U.S. is phasing out the M7 rifle in favor of the lighter M8 with a 25-round magazine. Exclusive access to the XM8 rifle, part of the "Next Generation Squad Weapon" program, has been granted to BFBS Forces News. Concurrently, Project Grayburn aims to secure a new standard rifle for the British Army, with SIG SAUER introducing a 6.8×51 caliber.
The Americans currently use the M7, but it is set to be phased out and replaced by the improved M8, which is lighter and features a 25-round magazine. Our colleagues at BFBS Forces News have been granted exclusive access to the XM8, the U.S. Army’s latest rifle in the “Next Generation Squad Weapon” program. At the same time, Project Grayburn is gaining momentum: The project aims to procure a new standard rifle for the British Army. SIG SAUER wants to be part of this and is also introducing the new 6.8×51 caliber.
