The Procurement Office of the Bundeswehr has signed a framework agreement with Flensburg Technology Systems GmbH (FTS) for the delivery of up to 200 lightweight air-droppable vehicles for the special forces. The new vehicle is called TAHR and is set to be delivered to the troops by the end of 2028, thereby enhancing the operational readiness of the special forces.

The base is a terrain-capable, air-transportable, unarmored, two-axle vehicle with an open structure and a total weight of 3.2 tons. The vehicle system combines off-road capability and versatility to meet the operational requirements of the special forces from the Army, Air Force, and Navy, and closes the capability gap in the area of tactical mobility after air landing.

The air-droppable vehicles will be procured in two variants: The lightweight air-droppable operational and combat vehicle, referred to as EGF, with variable armament and mission-dependent equipment, is suitable for various operational profiles due to its versatility. The also air-droppable lightweight support vehicle, referred to as UstgFzg, can additionally be used for material transports.
