Today a short, but always useful tip. There is hardly anything that lifts morale like putting on dry clothes after getting completely soaked. To make sure that your spare clothes or electronic equipment in your backpack don't get wet, you need to pack them waterproof. The cheapest way to do this is with a black garbage bag (preferably unused). When in doubt, double up for better protection. There are plenty of options on the outdoor market (e.g.: LokSack, Noaks Bag, Nite Ize) offering waterproof bags in all sizes. It's also worth packing the hydration bladder in its own bag, in case it ever leaks. There is hardly anything more unpleasant than being wet and not having anything dry to change into.
