The Bundestag has decided: 275 million euros will go to the Oberndorf company Heckler & Koch with a framework contract worth around 275 million euros. The first 17,033 rifles are expected to arrive with the troops in 2026/27, while the vast majority (101,295) will be delivered to the Bundeswehr between 2028 and 2032.

Whether this will turn the tide, we do not know. Nevertheless, HK has established itself as the more expensive weapon with similar accuracy. The procurement effort pales in comparison to the simultaneously financed F35 jets. By the way, these high-tech weapons are not only faster in the air: they will be delivered between 2026 and 2030. However, the quantity is only 35 for 8.3 billion euros.
