Strategies against violence

This year in Graz, there was a sad and tragic incident at the BORG Dreischützengasse school, a shooting rampage that shook the city and the country. Such acts are not new, but rather a global phenomenon that does not stop at the “Island of the Blessed”—peaceful Austria. Shooting rampages and terrorism will continue to be unavoidable in the future. It is important to recognize them in advance, take preventive measures, and know what can be done about them.

In the USA, children are taught how to behave in the event of an “active shooter” as early as elementary school. They know what to do with the terms “run, hide, fight.” There are many workshops and information available on this topic.

Karl Painer, a graduate and former member of the Jagdkommando (special forces unit) and other special training programs, has completed several missions in crisis areas. He has been practicing martial arts for over 40 years, was a successful MMA (cage fight) fighter, is a self-defense trainer, and has written six books on the subject of security in addition to the book “Geflasht 3 – Strategien gegen Amok und Terror” (Flash 3 – Strategies against Rampage and Terror). Painer is also a certified bullying and violence prevention trainer.
