As part of our ongoing series about the RS700 from STRASSER, our friend MAJOR FINDING took a close look at the rifle and its production in a previous article. In the last article, the focus was on the version with the MDT XRS chassis, which provides a good entry point into precision shooting.
Due to the compatibility of the RS700 with the Remington 700 Footprint, there are also a large number of international manufacturers and models with various stocks available. Opting for the "Barreled action" of the RS700 allows you to configure the rifle according to your wishes and requirements right from the start.
In this article, our friend MAJOR FINDING has searched the global market and presents you with a selection of both well-known and lesser-known aftermarket stocks or chassis.
All products mentioned in the article are generally drop-in parts. This means that the STRASSER RS 700 should fit into the stock without further modifications. For some stocks, you may need to bed the system in resin to ensure a perfect fit, but this depends on the processing quality of the stock manufacturer. The likelihood that minor adjustments to the chassis may also be necessary cannot be ruled out.
On the other hand, chassis from MDT, KRG, and AKILA have already been tested by STRASSER for their compatibility and function without any issues.
This manufacturer located in Slovenia has been producing chassis for a wide range of rifle types for many years and has a wealth of experience. The "ACSR700" is a suitable solution for systems with Remington 700 Footprint and "short action". The material used for this is aluminum, and the chassis is compatible with AICS format magazines. The "ACSR700" offers a lot of features and is aimed at ambitious shooters looking for a high level of ergonomics and quality.
Through the online configurator, you can customize your desired chassis and have it delivered by mail. We have already examined AKILA's products at several fairs and have therefore decided to upgrade our RS700 with an "ACSR700" chassis. We will share our collected experiences with you in future articles.
German Gun Stock is a German manufacturer that offers stocks for Remington Footprint, Tikka, and Heym. GGS has also been on the market for several years, and their products are widely seen on social media as well.
Although the stocks cannot be considered truly customized, there are numerous different models and color patterns available. For example, those who find aluminum alone too cold or unsympathetic may appreciate the more rounded lines of GGS stocks.
The Norwegian company GRS has been around since 2010, and their stocks are distributed in 39 countries. The laminated wood stock, in particular, is widely recognized in common gun or hunting catalogs.
The buttstock can be quickly adjusted in height and length but is otherwise kept very minimalist. Even though the "Sporter" variant is mainly seen on sporting rifles, GRS stocks are also popular among hunters.
The name SPUHR will surely be familiar to many as a manufacturer of optics mounts, but they also offer a chassis for rifles with the Remington 700 Footprint. The "SPUHR Ideal Chassis System" - or SICS for short - is available for both short and long action and is more geared towards PRS shooters. One feature of the chassis is the particularly handy quick-adjust options of the buttstock, which may be quite useful in PRS matches. However, a proprietary interface is used for the fore-end, allowing only Picatinny rails from SPUHR to be used.
MDT has been on the market for many years and is probably one of the best-known and most widespread brands in this field. Their range of stocks is huge, and the range of accessories is also very large. Models made of plastic as well as aluminum are offered - or mixtures of both materials. Whether you opt for a "budget-friendly" XRS chassis, or a fully equipped ACC Elite Chassis System, is up to the shooter - there should be something to be found in every price range.
CADEX DEFENCE is also located in Canada and offers a wide range of chassis as well. The range includes hunting plastic stocks, sporty PRS stocks, and tactical "all-rounders" with M-Lok and Picatinny rails galore.
Shooting sports in Canada have had a difficult time in recent years, and with each passing year, national gun laws have become increasingly restrictive. Nowadays, owning semi-automatic rifles and pistols has practically become impossible. Since precision rifles and hunting rifles are very similar in their system structure and external appearance, ownership of bolt-action rifles is still relatively easy, and PRS sports are one of the very few ways to engage in shooting sports in Canada.
Due to increased demand in the Canadian market, bureaucratic efforts for imports, import sales tax, and customs, it has also become more difficult to obtain corresponding products from Canada on the European market. The prices on the domestic market are now mostly difficult to justify, or the amounts demanded are no longer in proportion to the quality or features of the corresponding products.
The KINETIK RESEARCH GROUP is based in the USA and its products are primarily in the tactical/sporting area.
The "Whiskey 3" is very popular among PRS shooters and offers many adjustment options to adapt the stock as ergonomically as possible to the shooter.
WOOX's original products were wooden fore-ends with an M-Lok interface for various long guns. However, they now also produce complete stocks or chassis.
The combination of aluminum and wood with embedded M-Lok interfaces give the WOOX stocks a very special look.
MAGPUL is probably still remembered by most for their magazine floor plates for AR-15 magazines, which make it easier to pull the magazines out of the magazine pouches.
Today, MAGPUL is a large corporation with a correspondingly large portfolio of products - and is a well-known brand in the accessory market.
Like the majority of their products, the stocks are made largely of plastic - but are still robust and relatively inexpensive.
CHRISTENSEN ARMS is a less well-known name in Europe, but they manufacture both chassis and carbon-wrapped barrels.
DANIEL DEFENSE may be familiar to many as a manufacturer of AR-15 rifles. However, they also offer really nice chassis with many useful features.
Lastly, we have MASTERPIECE ARMS. They are a smaller manufacturer of chassis, but their products are often seen at PRS matches - at least in the USA.
As expected, the USA is the largest market for weapons and accessories, and the manufacturers shown here are only a fraction of it. Compared to imports from Canada, imports from the USA are even more difficult, however. The "International Traffic in Arms Regulations" (ITAR) is a US regulation that controls the trade in weapons, arms, and defense goods, and makes it very difficult or even impossible to obtain certain things from the USA.
In the meantime, due to additional EU laws such as the GDPR, many US companies no longer even deliver non-weapon parts to EU countries. And the Supply Chain Act, which came into effect this year (2025), will make imports of all kinds additionally difficult. Import sales tax and customs naturally lead to increased time and cost expenditure for imports from the USA as well.
Regardless of how you put together your desired firearm, keep in mind that you may encounter delivery problems if you need a spare part that is manufactured outside the EU.
