STEAMBOW Raptor SB1x20 Red Dot

We have already reported about our insider tip HERE. Now we have put about 500 shots through the Glock with it, and it's time for a review of the STEAMBOW Raptor SB1x20 Red Dot Sight.

Scope of Delivery

Everything you need is included in the box, except for the CR2032 battery. You will need to purchase this separately. Along with the Raptor SB1x20 Red Dot Sight, there is a Picatinny adapter (compatible with Acro P2), a microfiber cleaning cloth, a small Phillips screwdriver, a Torx key, and a multi-tool. The multi-tool is primarily designed for opening and closing the battery compartment on top. 

The Torx key size 10 is the most important, as it is used to secure and adjust the STEAMBOW Raptor SB1x20.

Mounting

The installation of the STEAMBOW Raptor SB1x20 Red Dots is simple as long as you have the appropriate ACRO P2 interface. Just place it on and tighten the two Torx 10 screws. The mount in the picture is included in the package.

For those who need a slightly higher mount, other mounts from different manufacturers also fit, as long as they are designed for ACRO P2.

Mounting on the GLOCK is also easy with a suitable MOS adapter plate.

The STEAMBOW Raptor SB1x20 is slightly larger compared to other pistol optics, which is why it protrudes a bit on both sides of the GLOCK. However, you have one of the largest sight windows available.

Field of View

We want to be honest with you. Like all red dots with small, square sight windows, the STEAMBOW Raptor SB1x20 also has distortion at the edges, but only very minimal. You really have to look closely to notice them. Otherwise, looking through it is a dream, also with night vision devices.

The red dot is truly clearly visible from edge to edge. Whether up, down, right, or left, the dot is there. This is something usually only found in high-end red dots.

Handling

The operation is simple. Thanks to the two buttons on the top back, the sides remain free of buttons that could be accidentally pressed. At first, we weren't sure if this is a good position, but we find it good. It’s something different. Especially on long guns or the crossbow, the operation is somewhat easier.

We certainly did not spare the STEAMBOW Raptor SB1x20. We pretty much always used it to cycle the slide, ...

... and we occasionally bumped into things. All without issues.

The zero of the optic held. The pistol continued to fire and the optic stayed intact. Due to the higher weight on the slide, there were times when the slide did not stay in the rear position after the last shot in the magazine.

The grouping before and after the "rough handling." All hits landed in the same area. Some in the center, some low left. Yes, I know, trigger error. I'm working on it.

Conclusion

The STEAMBOW Raptor SB1x20 Red Dot is a solid pistol optic, even if it is quite large compared to other pistol optics. Due to its relatively high weight, it may happen that the slide does not stay back after the last shot. But that is the only real negative point we could find. We did not handle it with kid gloves, and it always kept the zero and functioned perfectly. It’s also worth highlighting that the red dot is truly visible from edge to edge without distortion. This is usually only found in higher-priced optics.
