SOCOM favors the Magpul M-LOK System for its assault rifles due to superior durability and performance in tests conducted by the Crane Test and Evaluation Center. This endorsement could have a significant impact on the weapon accessory market.
According to a report from Recoil Magazines, SOCOM thinks the Magpul M-LOK System is great and wants to use it as standard on its assault rifles. We are curious to see how this will impact the weapon accessory market.
In summary, the Crane Test and Evaluation Center, known as Crane Division, of NSWC tested various modular stock systems for SOCOM. The tests included durability, rough handling, drop tests, and static load tests until failure. If possible, the same stock was tested with a different modular system (M-LOK, KeyMod …). These tests concluded that all systems are sufficiently suitable.
However, the M-LOK System performed even better than its competitors, especially in terms of durability after drop tests and in the point of impact shift after repeated disassembly and reassembly of the mounting. In the load tests until failure (i.e. breakage or tearing), the M-LOK System withstood up to three times more.
