SHOT SHOW 19: The new PlateFrame Modular

S&S Precision made a big secret out of their release in advance. Even before the SHOT SHOW 2019, we leaked a first image of their latest plate carrier here. But here are the first pictures of the PlateFrame Modular from the exhibition in Las Vegas.

This is what the PFM looks like when fully loaded. However, you can better recognize the features when it is empty. The Kydex frame is retained, but unlike the previous model, there are no Kydex clips around the plate, but straps that are now holding it. This probably makes it easier to use different plates.

We had previously talked about carbon as a material, but that doesn't seem to be right. This is a special hydrophobic plastic, which now forms another basic element alongside Kydex, it is rigid, similar to carbon.

The cummerbund is now elaborate and can be equipped with pockets on both the inside and outside: it's called "Load bearing wings."

There are quick releases on the hips and shoulders, following a general trend.

S&S Precision relies on very flat metal models on the chest that we have never seen before. They call it E-Buckle...

The shoulder area has also been developed with more details now.

The interior has become more complicated. Black foam cushions it, the new plastic forms an inner frame, a counterpart to the Kydex on the outside.

The system fully assembled. The equipment can be exchanged with pre-made modules on both the front and back. The plate carrier not only looks spectacular but also offers an elaborate system.

It's rumored that it will be introduced at Delta/CAG now. By the way, S&S Precision is restrictive with this model and wants it to go only to MIL/LE authorities. The old PlateFrame will still be available, we were told on request.

S&S Precision has also redesigned their modular belt mounts. Metal frames make them even stronger. This gives the metal holster extender a secure fit.
