Today we want to take a look at the latest from Crye Precision, who are somewhat the "gear gods" of the American military world. Even though Multicam, the first global camouflage pattern, didn't work out there, there's no need to be sad: Crye is indispensable in the international military world ... The biggest innovation is a series of "Maritime" carriers, designed for use near water. Crye has revised the JPC 2.0 and the AVS System: at the core, they feature more mesh on the body and foam plates as buoyancy aids. Crye's pockets have also been revised for a "maritime" theme. On the left, you can see something new: the Contaminated Water Dive Suit, a dry suit developed for the Office of Naval Research.
Sometimes Crye does things half-heartedly: like this halfling jacket that can be worn over the plate carrier. Whether it's shoulder padding or shoulder armor, we're not quite sure. On the right, Crye showcases a snow camouflage suit in Multicam Alpine, the snow pattern from Crye. The Compact Alpine Overwhites have a fun construction: the long jacket hides the fact that underneath it's not pants but actually oversized gaiters that reach into the crotch. The pretty Multicam Alpine skis are from the Canadian manufacturer DPS.
Halflings are "in" at Crye: as padded jackets for cold weather, as camouflage wraps for contour distraction. But that's nothing new so far.
And the multiplication of the "universal" Multicam enriches the range: camouflage patterns for arid areas (left) and Tropic camouflage for green landscapes. Both very nice to look at. Personally, we really like the Tropic pattern.
Funny enough, even Crye doesn't always reinvent the wheel: the civilian Exp Packs (left) strongly remind us of the comparable everyday backpacks from Arc'teryx LEAF. On the right, the Zip-on Panels for Crye carriers can be seen, they have been slightly revised.
Because they are so nicely listed, we'll start with a few overview images: here are the concealable protective vests ...
... here is the full range of plate carriers from Crye Precision.
Also already a true classic: the AirFrame Helmet by Crye. The water bottle on the right is most likely not from Crye.
And here is the classic combat suit by Crye in the holy halls of Las Vegas as a fitting final image. Multicam doesn't seem so bad after all ...
