SHOT 23: The new STRIKE by MTEK

MTEK USA is the maker of the great FLUX helmet. At the SHOT SHOW 2023, they have now presented a new model that goes in a different, minimalist direction: the STRIKE Ballistic.

MTEK sees the STRIKE as a BUMP VERSION of the FLUX, but it is a ballistic helmet, not just protection against bumps. The first magic about the STRIKE is that it provides NIJIIA protection – roughly said, protection against 9mm – at 0.5 kilograms of helmet weight. That is very comfortable.

However, MTEK is moving towards necessary minimalism: where others rave about rails on the helmet, MTEK eliminates them. The active hearing protection – OPS-CORE AMPS are probably intended here – can be mounted with a bracket on the rear edge of the helmet, and for night vision device mounting, WILCOX is used. Also interesting is the camouflage cover, which consists of glued elements that are applied directly to the shell.
