Sweden receives more Amphibian M3

The Swedish procurement agency Försvarets Materielverk (FMV) has awarded the contract for the delivery of additional amphibious bridge and ferry systems M3 from General Dynamics European Land Systems–Bridge Systems on March 5.

With its third batch of this bridge system in the latest generation, the new NATO member will further enhance its capabilities for water crossing, as well as those of the alliance. The amphibious bridge and ferry system M3 is the fastest means of crossing within NATO. It can be used as a float bridge or in ferry mode to transport even the heaviest battle tanks and overcome wide water obstacles, known as "Wide Wet Gaps." The off-road capable M3 can be brought to the water's edge in a land march and is ready for operation within minutes - a crucial factor on the modern transparent battlefield.
