Sharp thing: Carl Walther one-handed folding knife

03/07/2015By Redaktion

Currently, so-called one-handed folding knives are the most common pocket knives. These handy blades are widely used by security forces as well as in the sports and outdoor sectors. The German traditional company Carl WALTHER GmbH has introduced a whole range of one-handed folding knives to the market. Unlike many other providers, these knives - much to the delight of users - offer a very balanced price-performance ratio. The variety includes a wide collection of blades and handles that appeal to even the most demanding users.

In today's world, knives are generally categorized as collector's items or everyday practical knives. Besides being a tool, a knife is also an effective weapon that can be used for defense or offense. Knives of all types are found in the hands of rescue and security forces. In commercial personal protection, and even among some soldiers, tactical knife variations can be seen as a genuine alternative to firearms. The natural fear people have of bare steel usually has a strong impact.

The entire product line of Walther one-handed knives features ergonomically shaped handle scales that provide a secure grip even when wearing gloves. This ensures safe cutting even in cold and wet weather conditions. The overall concept of the knives and the black or matte finish are designed to meet the needs of soldiers and police security forces while also catering to the preferences of the outdoor and sports community. Each knife comes with a custom-wearable fabric pouch for the belt or tactical vest. In addition to the classic one-handed knives, mixed variations of pure knives and multi-tools are gaining popularity.

The P99Knife is a small homage to the police duty pistol P99. Like the pistol, the handle back of the knife is interchangeable and can be adjusted to the user's hand shape with two different included handle scales. The sturdy spearpoint blade is intended for robust use.

A bit of a novelty, the MultiTac knife features a metal handle that houses a very useful multifunctional tool with 18 functions, with the combination pliers being the highlight. The partial serrated edge of the 80mm blade easily cuts through materials like leather, tendons, or thick ropes. The handle end is equipped with a glass breaker.

For fans of Asian style, the BlacktacTanto is another highlight of the series. The 100mm long blade has a Tanto point and a partial serrated edge. The blade can be smoothly unfolded with the thumb and index finger.

WALTHER can be found at IWA 2015 in Hall 7A, Booth 204.
