A hole in the barracks fence leads to a lockdown and search at the Cologne-Wahn Air Force Barracks. Drinking water supply interrupted due to unusual values. Investigations by military police, police, BAMAD, and state security. Barracks reopened with temporary water supply. Ongoing investigations limit information disclosure.
On the early morning of August 14, 2024, a hole was discovered in the barracks fence of the Cologne-Wahn Air Force Barracks near the drinking water facility by the guard. Since it could not be ruled out that unknown persons were present on the barracks premises, the property was locked and searched. The search of the barracks premises was unsuccessful.
Due to unusual values displayed by the drinking water facility, the drinking water supply in the barracks was interrupted, which has no impact on civilian drinking water supply. Military police, police, BAMAD, and state security have started investigations on site.
The closure of the barracks was lifted on the afternoon of August 14, and operations resumed. The drinking water supply will be ensured through canisters until the investigation results are available. We ask for understanding that we cannot provide further information on the matter at this time due to ongoing investigations.
