With SAAB, one can dress up. Until now, this has mostly been the case for vehicles, from tanks to wheeled armored vehicles (Stridsvagn to Pandur). Baarracuda is the system that outfits the combat vehicle and guarantees multispectral camouflage. At MSPO 2025, we have now seen something different: the camouflage cloak for the bipedal operational force.
Only when we look at the picture does it become clear that this is not just any camouflage on the cloak, but rather Latvian LATPAD. Latvians prefer rough digital camouflage. We suspect that the primary effect of the cloak is not in the directly visible optical range.
Beyond sleeping and a head opening, which likely makes it as portable as a camouflage tarp from World War II, there is also a guide indicating what the manufacturers and target audience envision. Such a tarp is particularly important against thermal imaging devices that can be extremely annoying for reconnaissance.
And so the outside likely looks unremarkable; the small holes probably serve to disperse heat. Ultimately, one has to say: anything that works is good. It's exciting that SAAB is not only playing with the big boys.
