Romanians procure Piranha 5

General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDLS) signed a contract yesterday for the delivery of up to 227 PIRANHA 5 wheeled vehicles in six different configurations to the Romanian Armed Forces. The contract has a total value of over 1 billion US dollars. It is part of the Romanian Army's plan to modernize its fleet of protected wheeled vehicles.

Prime Minister Mihai Tudose and Deputy Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu attended the ceremonial signing at the Ministry of Defense headquarters.

The PIRANHA 5 vehicles will be produced in Romania as part of a strategic cooperation with technology transfer between General Dynamics European Land Systems - Mowag and the Romanian company Uzina Mecanică București București (UMB).
