RIS II for M4A1 in Astan operation

06/08/2010By Redaktion

Everyone is looking at the MK18 Mod1 and its new RIS II from SOPMOD Block 2. Often overlooked is the fact that in addition to this CQBR variant, the classic M4A1 Upper Receiver still exists, which is also equipped with a new rail in Block 2. One? Actually, there are two. One variant features a RIS II with a cutout for the front sight post, while the second variant can be seen in a deployment photo from Afghanistan and resembles a longer version of the CQBR Rail System. Presumably, a member of the Special Forces has configured an M4A1 to SOPMOD Block 2 standards here: Daniel Defense RIS II with Elcan Specter DR as optics and AN/PEQ-15 as a laser target designator. The rifle is equipped with a Crane Stock (mounted with a Garmin Foretrex 101 GPS) and Magpul PMags are used.
