RHEINMETALL: Even better NH90 simulator

07/20/2022By Redaktion

Rheinmetall was able to achieve another success with its Asterion simulator product range. Rheinmetall Electronics GmbH received a follow-up order for the simulators of the NH90 NFH Sea Lion naval helicopter from its partner Reiser Simulation and Training GmbH (RST).

Rheinmetall's simulation specialists from Bremen will upgrade the Asterion Cockpit Trainer "Functional Cockpit". The functional cockpit is part of the NH90 Maintenance Training Rig developed and delivered by Reiser Simulation and Training GmbH for the German Navy in Nordholz. This simulator allows the maintenance personnel of Marinefliegergeschwader 5 to realistically train maintenance and repair procedures. The simulators will be updated by 2024.

This upgrade will enable the training of the naval personnel to be on the current configuration status of the NH90 NFH Sea Lion naval helicopter. This upgrade represents an important milestone for the use of the Maintenance Training Rig in conjunction with the integrated Asterion Cockpit Trainer "Functional Cockpit" for the NH90 NFH of the German Navy.

The Asterion product range from Rheinmetall is an outstanding, dynamic, and realistic training tool for technical personnel training. Asterion impresses with its high fidelity replication. Rheinmetall thus enables an absolutely realistic training of NH90 ground personnel - now with both the German Army and Navy pilots.

By using data collected from the actual helicopters of the German Navy, Rheinmetall will now adapt this software to the current configuration of the NH90 helicopter and integrate it into the functional cockpit. This allows the training device to accurately reflect the behavior of the original equipment. This is indispensable for the training and education of the maintenance and repair personnel of the German Navy.
