The British armed forces have ordered four robotic vehicles Rheinmetall Mission Master. The four Unmanned Ground Vehicles in the Cargo version are part of the British Robotic Platoon Vehicle Programme. With this project, the British armed forces aim to test how unmanned vehicles can improve the combat power and capabilities of fighting forces at platoon level. The four Mission Master - Cargo vehicles will be delivered in spring 2020. The delivery also includes two casualty evacuation systems that can be integrated into the Cargo vehicle within 60 seconds. In addition, the order includes training and services, as well as spare parts. The vehicles will be delivered by Rheinmetall Canada, with Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land providing on-site support as a partner.
Robotics is already changing the battlefield of the future. With the Mission Master, Rheinmetall offers a new modular unmanned vehicle (Unmanned Ground Vehicle/UGV) that can enhance the combat power of the troops in various tasks. With the Mission Master, soldiers can apply artificial intelligence and robotic muscle for the unwanted 3D tasks (dull, dirty, dangerous) and, more importantly, safely execute their missions in the field.
The Mission Master - Cargo reduces the combat load of soldiers and thus increases mobility and efficiency. Its flexible, mission-adaptable stowage concept and robust design allow the Mission Master - Cargo to transport over half a ton of payload - such as supplies, equipment, or medical supplies.
The Mission Master is mission-ready and can serve as both an autonomous and semi-autonomous element of the combat team. The Mission Master platform is characterized by extreme flexibility and can be adapted to a variety of mission possibilities through modular, quickly deployable enhancements. This includes applications such as resupply, surveillance, protection, casualty evacuation, firefighting, CBRN reconnaissance, or communication relays.
Speed, scalable autonomy, and proven high mobility in all terrains, as well as its amphibious capabilities, make the Mission Master a strong and reliable comrade to the small combat team.
