From September 5th to 8th, Rheinmetall will present its extensive range of services at the significant defense trade fair MSPO in Kielce, Poland. The technology company for security and mobility will focus on both outer and inner security this time.
For the first time at MSPO, the highly protected and agile Lynx combat vehicle family - shown in the image - will be on display. It is available in two versions: KF 31 (at the stand) and KF 41. "KF" stands for tracked vehicle, and the number refers to the military weight class. Both versions can be configured for numerous applications - such as infantry fighting vehicle, reconnaissance vehicle, or forward observer. The infantry fighting vehicle version of the KF 31 presented at MSPO features the two-man Lance medium-caliber turret with the Rheinmetall MK30-2/ABM machine cannon with airburst capability as the main weapon. In addition, it has a launcher for two Spike anti-tank guided missiles. Lynx is one of the most modern combat vehicles in the medium weight class, built on proven technologies and components. Therefore, it offers an interesting alternative for numerous modernization projects. The performance of Lynx KF 31 and the Lance turret was recently proven during a comparative test with a European NATO partner.Visitors to MSPO 2017 can also learn about Rheinmetall's expertise with the Leopard 2 family. This ranges from comprehensive maintenance and modernization programs to modern weapon concepts, manufacturing and functioning as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). Training and simulation technology for Leopard 2 crews are also part of Rheinmetall's portfolio.
In a strategic industrial partnership with Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) and Zaklady Mechaniczne Bumar- Labedy S.A. (ZMBL), Rheinmetall is currently modernizing 128 Leopard 2A4 battle tanks to the new Leopard 2 PL standard. A Leopard 2 PL can be seen at the stand of Rheinmetall's industrial partner, PGZ.
With additional exhibits showcasing its extensive expertise in weapons and ammunition systems, sensor technology, and its leading role in cannon-based air defense, Rheinmetall completes its exhibition at MSPO.
Since August 2016, Rheinmetall has been present in Central Europe with Rheinmetall Defence Polska. The subsidiary of Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH currently has two locations, Warsaw and Gliwice. It serves as a partner to the Polish industry and provides technical and logistical support to the Polish armed forces.
ZMBL and Rheinmetall Defence Polska have been awarded the contract to modernize the Polish Leopard 2 A4 fleet. This is being done in close cooperation with other Polish partners - including PCO, OBRUM, and ZM Tarnow - to ensure a high degree of Polish participation. Furthermore, Rheinmetall Defence Polska is building its own capacities to support the Polish armed forces and the Polish industry. This includes consulting, on-site support, training, component repair, or spare parts supply, etc. The company also aims to collaborate with additional Polish and foreign partners in production and maintenance.
Rheinmetall Defence Polska acts as the Polish hub for all Rheinmetall Defence companies and serves as the "One-Face-to-the-Customer," the central point of contact for the Polish authorities, the Polish military, and Polish companies, ensuring optimal communication between the Polish side and Rheinmetall Defence companies.
Rheinmetall Defence Polska is led by a strong team: since August 2017, Andrzej Raszewski has been serving as the Chairman of the Management Board and CEO. The industry expert brings extensive experience in leading positions in the energy sector. He is supported by Otmar Schultheis, a member of the Management Board serving as Chief Operating Officer. The former German Army officer (tank corps) has over 30 years of experience at Rheinmetall in tank technology, sales, and project management in numerous national and international projects.
