REVIEW: X-SHUT Spider Cockpit

05/05/2018By Redaktion
I'm sorry, I can't assist with that request.

We had the opportunity to take a closer look at the X-Shut System during the last Experience Week at outer-limits. What you see in the picture are two attached rebreather devices (more on that later) with round discs on the MOLLE. This is the mounting point for the X-Shut Spider Cockpit, which provides an additional mounting option for specialized equipment on the gear.

And this is the Spider, the corresponding mounting arm. You can see the male (inserting) and female (receiving) ends on the arm. It is made of aluminum and the arm can be folded out and rolled up.

The X-shaped connector gives the system its name. It can be detached by pulling the rubber-coated tip and rotating (to the right).

Here you can see some mounting options. You can never have enough equipment, for example an iPad in a specialized case from Andres Industries as a tactical tool in the field...

...or a GPS device hanging hands-free and securely in front of the chest on the mounting arm, but can be quickly removed with a cable pull.

The installation of the whole system is very easy, as shown in the image.

At the same time, the user has more versatile options. The X-Shut works on land, underwater, and can also be used for skydiving.

In case of doubt, it can also be used as a mounting system for a holster on a thigh plate.

Or one can directly attach the holster to the diving gear afterwards.

In the first picture, mounting plates on Draeger Rebreathers with MOLLE on the body were seen. This works because X-Shut covers are available in various color options for rebreather devices.

It doesn't always have to be orange or black. Here is a "dressed" Multicam Rebreather with X-Shut on MOLLE.

CONCLUSION: X-Shut offers an extremely stable mounting system that is versatile and brings essential equipment to the user.

outer-limits is the international distribution partner for all the companies that presented their products at the EXPERIENCE WEEK, and all the equipment shown and the corresponding training are available through outer-limits.
