Today we have something special for all covert working individuals: a seemingly ordinary backpack that quickly transforms into a plate carrier. Here is the C.A.R.R. Pack from Wraith Tactical.
At first glance, a normal backpack. No MOLLE, no "tactical" appearance, here in Coyote Brown - but also available in completely civilian colors like blue and red.
The sides are also inconspicuous, with compression straps.
A well-padded back panel and wide shoulder straps characterize the carrying system of the C.A.R.R. Pack. Here you can also see the large Fastex buckle that will be used later.
But let's not keep you waiting any longer, there is a velcro pocket on the bottom of the backpack and also on the lower sides.
Pull firmly on these and with a skilled motion, the front plate can be pulled out of the backpack. Now just close the Fastex buckle and secure the sides, and you have complete upper body protection.
The front plate has a Velcro area at the top for patches and plenty of MOLLE loops elsewhere. In the center, you will find a Kangaroo pouch that can hold Velcro holsters or the included AR15 Insert for 3 magazines.
Optionally, there is a Medic Insert available for the back, which can be pulled out of the pack using a pull strap.
The insert is equipped with Velcro organizers and loops: here you can accommodate a lot of medical equipment.
If the standard strap is not enough for you: there is also an optional skeletonized cummerbund for the sides, which can be woven in like in the Crye JPC. The system is located under a flap and therefore does not interfere.
The hip belt can also be upgraded: for heavier loads, there is a full-fledged hip belt for weight distribution on the hips and more stability.
The front of the C.A.R.R. Pack has two hidden pockets so you're not limited to just the main compartment. This one (worn on the left side) has a Velcro strip inside for holsters, etc.
The opposite side is not equipped with further features. Here you can also see the paracord pull tabs and the drawstring that turns the backpack into a plate carrier.
All in all, the C.A.R.R. Pack has been on the market for a few years and may not be as interesting as it was when it was first released: Nowadays, there are flat high-performance plates that allow for wearing a full plate carrier under civilian clothing, making a backpack like the C.A.R.R. Pack unnecessary.
However, it still has its place in hot regions where wearing a plate carrier under clothing all day is impossible. Additionally, it offers the advantage that not only protection but also equipment can be carried hidden and ready for use at a moment's notice.
CONCLUSION: The Wraith C.A.R.R. Pack is a special solution for special requirements and operations. Designed for this purpose and with a little practice, this backpack provides a quick solution to bring protection and equipment to the wearer. So, for those who work covertly or are looking for an inconspicuous way to wear a plate carrier in urban areas, the C.A.R.R. Pack is ideal.
