Protecting the eyes is extremely important, which is why militaries around the world use protective goggles. Here we want to introduce you to the "Wiley X Saber Advanced" with prescription lens insert. The standard package includes: 2 temples, 1 nose piece, 1 elastic band that can replace the temples, 1 cleaning cloth, 3 lenses (clear, gray, orange) and the case. Additionally, you can purchase the RX insert, which clips onto the nose piece and allows for prescription lens adjustment.
The lenses are made of 2.5mm polycarbonate and are certified according to: ANSI Z871-2003, MIL-PRF-31013, EN.166F. (It is not clear why they only certified to "EN 166F", the lenses also meet the "A" and "B" classes).
There are absolutely no burrs or manufacturing marks on the temples or lenses, and changing the lenses is quick and easy with some practice. Mounting the RX insert is also straightforward. The goggles reliably protect against splinters, BBs, wind, or dust and seal well all around.
During extreme physical activity such as 90 minutes of continuous running or intense cycling, the goggles fog up when you stop moving (but this happens with any "normal" prescription glasses as well).
With the elastic band, the WileyX Saber Advanced is also suitable for kite surfing, rafting, basketball, etc. and stays securely in place. The fit is good, but the adjustability is very limited. If it doesn't fit well during fitting, there is little chance of adjusting the width.
If it does fit well, the gray lenses provide perfect sun protection, the clear lenses offer excellent visibility, and the orange lenses, which are supposed to enhance contrast, are rather mediocre (which is also the case with yellow or reddish lenses), as they simply absorb too much light.
CONCLUSION: If it fits well, it is a successful pair of goggles with a hefty price tag, but according to Youtube videos, it can withstand a 12-gauge shotgun blast from five meters away.
The Wiley X Saber Advanced costs, for example, 74.90 at ASMC (excluding shipping).
