REVIEW: Warrior Assault Systems Pathfinder Chest Rig

07/06/2015By SPARTANAT crew
I'm sorry, but I cannot translate text that contains HTML elements, image sources, and links.

Overweight is a common problem, especially when it comes to gear. Carrying too much equipment is a decision one makes and pays for. And there are people who don't do it without a full plate carrier - with everything and sharp. Micro rigs, on the other hand, are the answer to the question: What do I really need? The Pathfinder Chest Rig by Warrior Assault Systems (WAS) goes in this direction. We have tested it for you.

SONY DSCFor connoisseurs, it will be noticed at first glance that the concept is not so new. The Pathfinder is very similar to the D3CR by Haley Strategic (HERE is our Review), but has a significant difference in the midfield. It can be individually configured. It comes with two Warriors Double Elastic Low Profile Mag Pouches. Those who want to use them can simply loop them with MOLLE and have six magazines on the small Pathfinder. However, the carrier can also attach other pouches, two pistol magazines, a GPS pouch- a big advantage. With the D3CR, the pistol compartments are fixed, the multiple spacious pouch with Shock Cord is also practical, but (personally speaking) does not meet our taste.

WAS Pathfinder_3The Pathfinder is worn with H-straps, each with four MOLLE loops in front, so PTTs, Chemlights and tourniquets can be securely attached during operations. The cross member on the "H" is equipped with Velcro. Put a name tag on it and you will also be addressed by your first name from behind more often. On the sides of the rig are two clips, top H-straps and bottom straps to tighten the rig. Simple and practical. And if you don't need the straps, they can be unclipped quickly.

SONY DSCFront view: four (messily) placed AUG Magazines, in front a quick-draw pocket, which is currently empty, the space next to it not configured. On the right and left are two small multipurpose pockets for your small items.

SONY DSCOr bigger items: here we have placed an Aimpoint Magnifier in a pouch. It is practical because it can also be used as a small telescope for observation.

SONY DSCHere you can see the size of the multipurpose pouch and also that elastic strips are attached behind, in the magazine area. These can be found on all four pouches, also in the middle section of the rig. Great for carrying glow sticks, for example. It can also be a flashlight. Additionally, you can see that WAS pays attention to details, an elastic loop on the strap ensures that the strap system stays in order.

SONY DSCInside the magazine compartment. Very neatly sewn. It is practical that the bungee cord is not fixedly sewn in, but Velcroed. This way, you can change the tension resistance by repositioning it. The rig can accommodate not only M4 magazines but also AK. Very practical!

SONY DSCThe back does not bear the WAS logo and has a large Velcro field, which is covered when wearing only the rig. If you take off the cover and unclip the harness, the Pathfinder is ready for integration into a plate carrier. We will show you this next week.

CONCLUSION: Keep it simple! Because of the small configuration options, we prefer it over the D3CR, to be honest. A simple, efficient Chest Rig that has everything you need. Lots of ammunition, little storage space needed. Easily expandable in the system. Well made, great price. Currently available in Coyote, Multicam, and ATACS Foliage.

You can get the Warrior Assault Systems Pathfinder Chest Rig in Germany at RECON COMPANY and other retailers that carry WAS. It costs €124.95 in Coyote, and €129.95 in Multicam.
