Even the Brits wear plate carriers, and from the island comes good gear that also deserves our attention. Warrior Assault Systems (WAS) is one of the leading producers in the land of tea drinkers, and today we at SPARTANAT are taking a look at the Dynamic Combat System (DCS) Plate Carrier from WAS, available in Germany at Gearmaniacs.
Just before tea time: the DCS plate carrier from the front and back. A small buddy that has everything it needs. The DCS plate carrier doesn't offer many surprises, but proves itself as an extremely well-built and functional plate carrier. The material is the good old 1000D Cordura, making the DCS a sturdy and tough PC.
If you want to take it off for tea time: open the flaps and pull on the very practical straps (right), then the cummerbund can be unfolded (left). Inside we see a radio pouch that is Velcroed inside the cummerbund. It is also padded accordingly, otherwise the radio would press down. The cummerbund is also equipped with MOLLE on the sides and can be expanded by attaching pouches.
The shoulders with padding (left) and a look at the strapping underneath. It works without padding, but it's much better with it.
The carrier placed on the ground: it is equipped with a lush 3D mesh inside to allow air to circulate for the wearer.
A special feature is that the DCS plate carrier comes with dummy soft plates (left). Convenient for people who do not plan to use real armor. Those who do want that can insert the DCS Soft Armor. The carrier, which is designed uniformly in a Large size, also fits German SK4 plates very well, such as the ones available at BEST PROTECTION. At BEST PROTECTION, you can also find the appropriate soft armor. Another look at the pocket in the cummerbund that holds the side armor (top right); it is interesting that the cummerbund is reinforced with plastic. This prevents it from hanging down so much when unfastened.
CONCLUSION: The Warrior Assault Systems DCS Plate Carrier is an unexciting but extremely solidly executed plate carrier that bravely fulfills its mission. In terms of price, it's almost a real bargain considering the quality. (By the way, if you want to know more about tea, the best tea reviews are available HERE).
You can find the Warrior Assault Systems DCS Plate Carrier in Germany at Gearmaniacs for 161.90 euros.
