When you hear the word Burrito, your mouth automatically starts to water and you immediately envision a filled wheat flour tortilla from Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine. The name is said to originate from the fact that the folded tortilla looks similar to donkey ears. A Burrito is therefore a little donkey.
With the product from ventumgear.com, it is not fast food, nor does it have any resemblance to donkey ears. However, upon closer inspection and use, you discover the capabilities of a mule.
The Burrito® Multipouch of Generation 2 is an improvement over its predecessor and as the name suggests, it is a bag. This bag, made in Europe, is made of Cordura® 560 and comes in Multicam and Black colors. I opted for the Multicam.
When closed, the Burrito measures 24 cm x 14 cm x 4.5 cm and when open, 24 cm x 18 cm x 1 cm. Thanks to the full-length YKK® zipper, the Burrito can be fully opened and unfolded, allowing complete access to the contents.
The YKK® zippers are equipped with 7 cm long rubberized Paracord, making handling with gloves easier. On the front, there is a pocket accessible via a zipper. The approximately 20 cm x 10 cm compartment allows for the storage of flat items such as a notepad and pen, a rescue blanket.
Beneath the compartment runs a roughly 20 cm long woven and sturdy MOLLE strap. The five MOLLE loops allow for attaching additional pouches or equipment. A roughly 21 cm x 5.5 cm Velcro area completes the front side, allowing for the attachment of various patches and identification markers.
On the back, there is a 12 cm x 10 cm bellow pocket. This flat pocket secured by a Velcro closure can be opened via the sewn MOLLE strap. This compartment is suitable for flat items such as ID cards, small medic and emergency cards, first aid gloves, etc. By the way, the Burrito Patch is also available at VENTUM.
Next to the bag, there are two attached MOLLE loops on each side. These can be used to secure the Burrito® Multipouch to other items such as duty belts, plate carriers, backpacks, etc. The included carrying handle or the Smart Tag Rig or Dangler Adapter can be attached there.
On the back, there are two sturdy and woven loops on the left and right, where the shoulder strap can be attached using the WB 25 connectors of the 2M Warrior Series.
The 3 cm wide, woven, and sturdy shoulder strap can be extended from at least 55 cm to a maximum of 103 cm, allowing the Burrito® Multipouch to be worn as a waist bag or shoulder bag.
Underneath the Burrito® Multipouch there is a 10 cm x 5 cm strong rubber band. This allows the user to use their Burrito® Multipouch as an IFAK and can carry a tourniquet accessibly there. Other items can also be stored in it, such as a dog leash.
Included is a carrying handle with two clips. This handle is wrapped in the color red and can be fastened in a stepped manner over the two MOLLE clips on the Burrito® Multipouch. I have chosen this handle on my belt as an attachment and connection for the Burrito® Multipouch. In case of need, this handle can be used not only as a carrying handle, but also as a rescue handle. In conjunction with the IFAK Car Holder from ventumgear.com, this carrying handle can be attached to the Burrito® Multipouch in such a way that it serves as a pull-out.
The interior of the Burrito® Multipouch is delivered with a light interior as in the black version. This allows the user to see and use the contents even in diffuse light.
In the Multicam version, there is a sand-colored 10 cm x 21 cm large hook-and-loop fastener on both sides. In the black version, there is a neon yellow hook-and-loop fastener inside the Burrito® Multipouch.
The four included rubber loops on hook-and-loop basis can be optionally used on the hook-and-loop surfaces. Other hook-and-loop attachments such as placards, pouches, or loops from other manufacturers can also be used there.
I have equipped my Burrito® Multipouch as a multi. It serves as an IFAK for on-the-go and as a platform for EDC gear. The well-thought-out multitool is large enough to hold everything. The flexible application allows us to always have the bag with us as a waist or shoulder bag, on the bike, in the car, or chariot.
As mentioned above, there is expandable accessories for the Burrito® Multipouch such as the IFAK Car Holder or Smart Tac Rig, to get more out of the multitool. Worn as a Chest Rig below to carry it in front of the chest.
CONCLUSION: The Burrito is an advanced multitool among the current pouches. Ready for use and suitable in daily life as an EDC, in service as a multipouch for equipment, or as a life-saving IFAK. My current favorite.
VENTUM GEAR Burrito® Multipouch Gen. 2 is available directly from the manufacturer starting at 65 euros.
