When it gets hot, you can dress hot as well. There are operators who like to cut the sleeves off Crye Shirts. That's a statement. We would do it differently. We recently discovered the Rugby Shirt from Velocity Systems. As Heat Gear, it looks great and is produced exactly for that purpose.
Here you can see the Rugby Shirt on a man. This version is "Wolf Grey", it is also available in Tan and Black. The shirt is actually a T-shirt inspired by the sport of rugby and has a loose fit.
The special thing is certainly this collar, which does without buttons, but is still open. We Europeans are more used to round collars. The Rugby style - HERE a sporty role model - looks unusual at first glance, but is very comfortable to wear and gives the Velocity Systems shirt an exotic look. The collar also does not rub when wearing a weapon strap around the neck.
On the right and left sleeve there are pockets that also do without closure. They are made of fine fleece, take on any patch and hold the contents securely due to their interlocking construction.
The magic of the Rugby Shirt is also the material it is made of. We don't know any Heat Gear that is as sturdy as this one. It feels like wearing an Under Armour shirt doubled. The many small "holes" provide good ventilation. It dries extremely quickly when sweated through, also has antimicrobial protection (lasts for about 25 washes). And it is very stretchy: 83 percent nylon with 17 percent spandex make it possible.
CONCLUSION: The Rugby Shirt from Velocity Systems feels heavy and unusual the first time you put it on. But you quickly fall in love with this wearing feeling that you don't know from any other shirt. It is more present and practical: we wore it during Crossfit and it proved extremely useful. It has both a subtle and an exotic look. It can be worn "stand alone", but also serves as Heat Gear layer under regular gear.
You can get the Rugby Shirt directly from Velocity Systems for 69 dollars in Wolf Grey, Tan, and Black. It will soon be available in Germany at VTAC Germany. Dealer inquiries to: [email protected]
