REVIEW: Velcro® Adaptive Wing by KHNLD

Kydex Holster NLD (KHNLD) has developed a mounting platform together with DEFTEX for attaching knives to the inside of a plate carrier/micro chest rigs or horizontally under the cummerbund using Velcro. SPARTANAT took a closer look at this platform.

The Adaptive Wing measures 160 x 100 x 2 mm and weighs only 20 grams, made of Milliken Tegris® Thermoplastic Composite Fabric, providing a stable platform.

Features a 100 x 100 mm large hook and loop fastener on both sides. A total of 12 pre-drilled holes for attaching various knife sheaths.

A suitable screw set is included with the Adaptive Wing from KHNLD. Cross-slot / countersunk head, black zinc-coated, M4 thread with lengths of 10 mm and 12 mm. Also included are the corresponding screw sleeves (M4 thread) and rubber rings as spacers.

We have a corresponding Kydex sheath for the Extrema Ratio Scout to attach it to the Adaptive Wing. The knife is intended to serve as a back up.

Mounting the sheath on the Adaptive Wing is quick and easy with the appropriate tools.

Since most plate carriers and chest rigs are equipped with hook and loop fasteners, the Adaptive Wing can be fixed between the cummerbund and the placard.

Securely fixed on the side in the Frog Pro Chest Rig.

Works great horizontally under the plate carrier.

CONCLUSION: The Adaptive Wing by KYDEX HOLSTER NLD (KHNLD) is designed to save mounting space on the plate carrier and make room for other essential equipment. The wing is also suitable for bags and backpacks with internal Velcro surfaces to secure and carry additional gear.
