REVIEW: VE-LOADS 6,5mm Creedmoor

12/11/2020By Redaktion
In August, our friends from MAJOR FINDING discovered a new German manufacturer of (rifle) projectiles. The company is called VE-LOADS and produces projectiles in eight calibers made of copper and brass. This sounded very interesting to them and they immediately requested two calibers for testing. The manufacturer then provided us with a pack of 6.5mm and .338 - both in copper. With the 6.5mm projectiles, we assembled some ammunition on the weekend and tested it in practice in a 100-meter shooting tunnel.
For powder, we used the new Vihtavuori N555 and shot a load ladder between 38 Grain and 41 Grain. The Federal Premium small rifle match primers were used. The whole setup was "packed" in brand new match cases by Peterson.
With so many premium materials, the rifle also had to stand up to the challenge.
Therefore, a Ritter & Stark SLX with a 24-inch barrel and an 8-twist rate was used, equipped with a Kahles K624i scope. Naturally, it is also fed with specially crafted ammunition. With the previously used ELD projectiles in 147 Grain from Hornady, the rifle achieves groupings of around 0.3 MOA at a V0 of 830 m/s.
Therefore, we already have a very good benchmark for the rifle's precision.
Conclusion from MAJOR FINDING: The initial impression is extremely solid. Further tests at longer distances and also the testing of the .338 projectiles are still pending. We will provide these as soon as possible.
