The number two of our report comes from the house of Leapers/UTG. This 3x Magnifier actually has everything you would expect from an entry-level model.
The dimensions of the device are 105mm x 50mm x 50mm and weigh 324 grams. Sounds like a lot at first, but this weight specification includes the mounting - which is also firmly integrated. That is also one of the few points of criticism - you cannot change the mounting. However, there is initially no reason to do so, as it is well made and even offers a quick-release for rapid removal from the weapon. To fold it to the side, you grab the optic, pull it towards you, and thus release the locking mechanism. The same procedure applies when you want to fold the optic back. Not the fastest solution, but the glass sits securely in every position and does not wobble. The optics itself is robustly made and looks good. It has adjustments for diopter settings, height, and windage. It is splashproof and should be able to withstand some bumps.
The view through the glass is relatively clear and bright. Only the edge sharpness leaves something to be desired, as there is clearly a slight magnifying glass or fish-eye effect. The eye relief to the optic is approximately 6cm, which is one of the best values in the test series. The field of view is relatively insignificant behind the red dot sight, but at 13.7 meters at 100 meters, it is the best among our 10. So if you use the UTG as a monocular, it definitely has an advantage here.
The mounting can be problematic as the height is fixed. With 43mm from rail to the center of the lens, it is one of the highest devices and is best suited for a 1/3 lower cowitness. However, we also had no problems getting a good picture with our cowitness mount behind the Holosun. This is thanks to the large and bright lens of the UTG. The UTG feels most comfortable behind an Eotech or a full-sized red dot (Aimpoint Comp or similar).
Price-wise, the UTG 3x FTS Magnifier is just under 120 euros, which is a very good price including the mounting. In addition, you also get a cleaning cloth, tool, manual, and even rubber caps for the money.
