Why make life difficult for yourself. The name "Ops Easy" explains well what this plate carrier is about. A lightweight model that still comes across as fully featured. With the help of SNIPER AS, we took a look at the Ur-Tactical Ops Easy Plate Carrier and were pleasantly surprised.
If you like model making, you'll be happy to see that the equipment comes in parts. The Ops Easy Plate Carrier comes in four large and four small pieces. No challenge for assembly: the rear and front plate pockets and a two-piece cumberbund. In the plastic bag next to it are four QASM Buckles from ITW Nexus. We will explain more about them later.
The shoulder straps of the two plate pockets overlap: on the right, they are only placed on top, on the left, they are already looped in. The width means that you don't necessarily need additional shoulder pads for the Ops Easy.
There is Velcro on the chest, which is good, because there is always something to attach. Next to it is a vertical MOLLE strip where you can loop in a QASM, but you don't have to. If you do, there are three different heights. On the flap below, there is enough space to attach magazine pouches or loop in a kangaroo pouch in the flap.
Closed in the classic way: the cumberbund comes from the right and left and slips under the flap, which is then attached with velcro. The cumberbund does not have provisions for side SAPIs. However, it is equipped with MOLLE, so you can attach pouches.
The Easy Ops is lined from below with SAPIs. Here we have the Team Wendy Training ESAPIs – reviewed HERE – available from HCS Soldatenausrüstung (Advantage: compact, flexible plastic in original weight). Train as you fight!
Nothing special inside. The manufacturer's logo is sewn on. The entire plate carrier is made of 500D Cordura.
The back is equipped with MOLLE and has an interesting receptacle for the cumberbund. It goes through a vertical loop and then loops through three MOLLE loops. There is a bar on the cumberbund (seen on the left) similar to LBT Pouches. If you want it tighter, go further in. Everything is mounted on the right. The only disadvantage of fixed cumberbunds – i.e. those that are not connected with flexible shock cord and pulled through the back – is that if you start breathing quickly and deeply, it can become tight around the chest. So, adjust it a bit wider and leave some room.
The Easy Ops Plate Carrier is available in M, L, and XL, for different plate sizes. It sits rather high on the body when properly adjusted.
The QASM Buckles are used to attach the Easy Chest Rig from Ur Tactical. You can also use the D3CR from Haley Strategic, for example (in that case, you need the Swift Clip Set from Velocity Systems). We really like the combined option, as it means you can remove the heavy equipment while keeping the plate carrier on for protection.
CONCLUSION: A small, extremely compact plate carrier that has everything a larger one has. Except Side SAPIs. The integration option for a chestrig is ideal. Those who don't need that will still be extremely satisfied with the PC. The craftsmanship is excellent, and the price for the quality and solution is affordable.
The Ur-Tactical Ops Easy Plate Carrier is available directly from SNIPER AS starting at 169.90 euros in Multicam, Coyote, or Ranger Green. Directly from UR TACTICAL, there are also many other color variants available (Kryptek, ATACS, other Multicams, etc.)
