The combination of Red Dot and Magnifier is practical and allows you to hit targets at greater distances. Unfortunately, the Magnifier, when not in use, always stands out to the side and can sometimes be in the way. That's why the guys from Unity Tactical have wracked their brains and put all their design skills together to create something new. The result is the FAST Red Dot and the FAST Magnifier Mount, which are very different from anything else on the market. We took a closer look at them.

Let's start with the mounting for the Red Dot, called FAST Micro Mount. At first glance, it looks like an ordinary high mount with a hole pattern for Aimpoint Micro T1 optics. So, several Red Dots fit on this mount, we chose an HS503R from Holosun.Fits perfectly. Included with the Unity Mount is an extra-long hex key because this mount is significantly higher than any we know. The sight line is just under 5.8 cm above the rail, which is really unusually high, but - a clear advantage - it allows for a very straight head position in the shooting position.

From the factory, the FAST Micro Mount must be screwed to the rail, but a retrofit kit for a quick-release mount is available.

Another special feature of this mount is the integration of a BUIS (Back-Up Iron Sight). The peep sight is always there, and a screw-in front sight is also included. The sight length is then less than five centimeters and would be anything but accurate.

However, the height is chosen so that the peep sight perfectly complements a folding sight or the sight of an AR15.

This is what the FAST Micro Mount looks like on the weapon. The target optics sit high above the rail. Behind it, in elegant FDE, you can see the FAST FTC Aimpoint Magnifier Mount, which we will focus on now.

FTC stands for "Flip to Center," which describes the functionality best. It was designed for the Aimpoint 3x Magnifier with a 30mm diameter, but other magnifiers should also fit. By the way, you can see the stowage position of the magnifier. Really nice: it is located in the middle of the rail, where it interferes the least when not in use.

Because for use, it is simply folded up. This is definitely something different. The mechanism has a pull or push resistance, so accidental folding is excluded.

The magnifier is secured with two screws by clamping. A proven method of attachment.

The FAST FTC Aimpoint Magnifier Mount is perfectly matched to the FAST Micro Mount. You can see how high above the rail and barrel the sight line is now located. This must be taken into account for shorter distances if you want to hit the target.

The magnifier in the stowage position. Nothing interferes, and the risk of tangling is significantly lower compared to other solutions.

At first, it is very unusual to hold your head upright while shooting, but you quickly get used to it and it has some advantages.

CONCLUSION: The FAST Mount Combo is different from all competitors, but that's not a bad thing. Unity Tactical have really thought about this and there have been some inputs from users, which you definitely notice when working with this optics combo. However, these mounts are not for everyone, especially because of the high sight line. If you often have to wear a visor helmet or full-face mask while shooting, you should take a closer look at this combo.

Available at ACTinBlack, the FAST FTC Aimpoint Magnifier Mount for 245.70 Euros, also available there is the FAST Micro Mount, but currently it is sold out.
