REVIEW: UF PRO Striker X Combat Shirt

04/22/2021By Redaktion

Announced for the first time at IWA two years ago, it has finally landed and is available. The UF PRO Striker X Shirt, matching the Striker X Pants - HERE in the SPARTANAT Review. It complements the Striker X Combat Suit series, which was developed with a special focus on the requirements of the military.

First, an overview of the nice piece. Here from the front: You can already see the first obvious differences. The chest area is now covered with NYCO fabric and has two slanted Velcro patches on it.

From the side, it looks almost like the Striker XT Shirt, which is already known from UF PRO.

Even the back may look the same at first glance, but here too there is more fabric in the upper area.

The main focus of the new shirt is certainly on the revolutionary fabric Lizard Skin. This is located all around the torso area and significantly shapes the functionality of the new combat shirt.

Hands Up! The new Lizard Skin from the body is also located in the armpit area.

Hard to capture in pictures, but here UF PRO has once again clearly shown what sets them apart: selected fabrics innovatively used for best performance. Lizard Skin is a mixture of Lyocell/Polyamide knit fabric, with small ceramic dots applied.

As a result, the fabric is breathable on one hand and extremely abrasion-resistant on the other. When wearing the shirt, you can feel how the plate carrier literally glides over it. We also find that the fabric is thinner than that of the Striker XT Shirt.

We'll go straight ahead with the lighter, no problem. Of course, the fabric, like the rest of the shirt, is No-Melt/No-Drip, to meet military standards regarding FR.

As already seen, there is now more (camouflage) fabric on the upper body. Also new are two Velcro areas on the chest for, for example, name badges. The Multicam Shirt also has all Velcro in Multicam color. Also one of the reasons for the higher price.

Here is the collar area. Where there used to be a zipper, there is now just Velcro.

This reduces pressure points. The height is optimally chosen for a plate carrier, so that the collar can still be comfortably folded down.

There are therefore three ways to wear the collar on the new UF PRO Combat Shirt: Here the chest area completely open. Looks airy, gives deep insights.

The second option would then be slightly closed and collar folded over. Perfect for the plate carrier

And last but not least: Collar raised and fully closed for best protection. The Velcro areas allow you to adjust the width of the collar comfortably.

Inside the collar area is an extremely comfortable fabric to increase comfort. Very finely woven.

Also new is a comfortable hip pad. By the way, you can immediately see the length of the shirt here. It is held longer at the back than at the front, so even when bending over, it is long enough not to slip out of your pants.

The hip pad is of course on both sides. Three half arcs on top of each other reduce any pressure points from the combat belt.

Here is the inside view. Lizard Skin protects against abrasion on the outside, while the fine fabric, which is also found in the collar area, provides a comfortable feeling on the inside.

And this is how the padding looks in action with the Striker X Pants. Perfect harmony, really comfortable to wear.

Now let's move on to the more conventional features. Such as a sleeve closure with Velcro. Stylish as always with Multicam fleece.

There is also a patch area with an upper arm pocket. This pocket is very spacious. Here we would appreciate a small rubber band on the inside to maybe secure the content a bit more.

The pen slots are already known from the jackets. This feature is now also found in the middle of the Velcro on the new Combat Shirt.

On the back of the pocket, there is a large ventilation option that can be opened with a zipper. All zip closures are from YKK.

Here is the inside view of the shirt. You can see the upper arm ventilation again, as well as the shoulder padding inserted.

These can of course be removed if you do not want to use them or when washing the shirt.

Inside the sleeve, somewhat unusually placed, is the label. This provides information about the fabrics and explains how to best wash the shirt. Also visible is the size Medium that we wear. Due to the typical UF PRO athletic cut, we need one size larger. We also have all jackets and the Striker XT Shirt in size M. Those who already have a top from UF PRO can use that as a reference.

Also present on the Combat Shirt is elbow protection.

The UF PRO Flex Elbow Pads fit in here, but have to be ordered separately.

The opening for the pad compartment looks rather small at first glance.

But you can simply roll something up and push it in.

They go in quickly, unfold, and with the pads you immediately feel more protected.

The protectors are soft and conform to the arm, but when you bend your arm, they protrude a bit. But it's by no means tragic, and who cares when crawling on the ground. Better pads than none...

CONCLUSION: Top - there's hardly anything more to say about the new Striker X Combat Shirt. Lizard Skin is a great advancement for the overall construction. Combined with the other features, it results in a durable, comfortable shirt that fully supports the wearer in their activities. We will definitely get one in Stone Grey Olive.

The UF PRO Striker X Combat Shirt is AVAILABLE HERE in MultiCam (139€), as well as Stone Grey Olive (129€) and Flecktarn (136€). The matching Flex Elbow Pads are AVAILABLE HERE for 24€.
