REVIEW: TRC Outdoors Jungle Knots

06/19/2024By Redaktion

Setting up the tarp with various knots is easy and quite fun in nice weather, but it's a different story when it's raining and you're exhausted. Especially when your fingers are cold or slippery, it can bring you close to tears. "Jungle Knots" from TRC OUTDOORS offer a solution here.

The Jungle Knots from TRC Outdoors are made of specially coated nylon yarn and come with a practical mesh pouch. This way, you can always carry the guyline with the tarp. The guyline is around 2.10m long and weighs 27 grams with the mesh pouch.

Basically, it's just two knotted cords that you can quickly tension without additional knots. You just have to loop one of the knots through itself on the guyline.

It's shown very clearly in this video by The Bug Out Shop.

When set up, it looks like this. One end is securely attached to the tarp. The other goes around the anchor point, in this case, a simple stake, and then a knot is looped through the double cord. This can also be done one-handed and takes less than two seconds. The cord is taut already.

To be extra secure, a small toggle can be looped through the loose end. Here, we simply used a small branch. If you leave out the toggle, the Jungle Knots can be untied very quickly. Just pull on the loose end abruptly and the knot slides through the double cord.

CONCLUSION: I've only read about the concept of "Jungle Knots" before and never used them myself. After the initial uses, I must say, it's a truly simple, light, and functional way to tension something. The advantage of not having to tie knots or use other tensioning aids makes Jungle Knots a really great add-on. Especially for those who have set up their tarp in the middle of a rainy night without light, know what we're talking about.

You can get the Jungle Knots directly from TRC Outdoors, individually starting from £4.17 (~€5) or as a set of six starting from £21.67 (~€26). The pouches are available in green or multicam.

Don't forget, TRC OUTDOORS has provided us with a discount code that gives you 10% off the entire range! The code is SPARTANAT.
