REVIEW: Toy Soldier MBITR antenna cable

07/23/2011By Redaktion

One can see with various Special Forces that the antennas are often placed on the back or elsewhere using an extension. Toy Soldier has now released exactly this extension. We will show you what the antenna cable for the Toy Soldier MBITR can do:

This coaxial cable extension is available in two variants, Type A and B.
Type A is a TNC angled plug that is screwed directly onto the radio. Type B is a BNC angled plug with a TNC to BNC adapter. "TNC? BNC? What the hell is he talking about?", some may ask now. To keep it simple, both are standards for connecting coaxial cables.

TNC is for screwing while BNC is equipped with a bayonet lock. Both have advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of Type B (BNC) is that the antenna can be disconnected from the radio in no time. One disadvantage is that it does not hold as securely and also protrudes further than Type A (TNC).

Whichever one you choose, they are very high-quality. The cable is the Milspec coaxial cable RG-58 C/U. The cable length is over 1.20 m. We have tested them on all replica MBITRs available to us, and they fit perfectly everywhere. According to Toy Soldier, the cable should also be compatible with the original Thales antenna, which we unfortunately cannot confirm, but are happy to believe.

Conclusion: Toy Soldier has once again released a small part with this cable that is quite functional and at the same time enriches the gear setup with a detail.

Available at Toy Soldier for $26.90 excluding shipping.
