REVIEW: Toy Soldier Swimmer Cut Dummy Plates

08/29/2012By Redaktion

Actually, this is not a review but a preview: SPARTANAT is the first to introduce you to the new Swimmers Cut SAPIS from Toy Soldier, which will be available soon. This is something that has been eagerly awaited, and those who need dummy swimmer plates for their plate carrier can already start looking forward to it.

Here you can see Toy Soldier twice: on the right is the normal SAPI, whose first dummy was also from Toy Soldier, and on the left is the upcoming Swimmer Cut. The front side of this pattern is still blank, the text will be the same as on the right, but in a finer, black font, just like the real ones. Both dummies are made of lightweight, hollow plastic. By the way, for training purposes, if you want to have the real weight, you can fill this hollow dummy. That's why the SAPI on the right has been re-glued. Quartz sand brings it closer to the original weight, but at a fraction of the price of an original. Of course, these items do not provide any ballistic protection.

Here is a comparison between the two generations of plates: the cut is different. The Swimmer Cut is narrower towards the top, even though the basic dimensions at the bottom are the same. The Swimmer Plate (right) is also thinner compared to the classic SAPI.

CONCLUSION: The perfect surprise from Toy Soldier, finally affordable Swimmer Plates for the reenactor of the world or for people who want to fill them as training dummies.

The Swimmer Plates are available in September at Toy Soldier for $29 per pair. Initially, only size M is available, but size L is expected to follow later.

For those who want to know exactly: the comparison.
