REVIEW: TMC Gen3 Original Cutting Combat Trouser with Knee Pads 2018 Version (Multicam Black)

“Original Cutting” is a word. The problem with a lot of replica gear is that it always somehow deviates. Most of the time, it's too small. Original Cutting is a promise, just the way men like it: go into the store, say 34 x 34 for the jeans, and what you wear fits. It's not just jeans, it's a replica of Crye's G3 Combat Pants. We're taking a look at the TMC Gen3 Original Cutting Combat Trouser with Knee Pads 2018 Version in Multicam Black.

Familiar design, of course, classic fit, we have adjusted the Velcro at the knees and tightened the bottom, that's why it looks so tight. No, it's the correct size, fitting perfectly. And all in a wonderful Multicam Black.

The features are just like the real thing. All 1:1. It has Velcro and zipper closures. But most importantly, the pants have the right size at the waist. In this case: 24 fits perfectly.

If needed, adjustments can still be made with the buckle. And there's the 4-way stretch for mobility. There are two zippered pockets at the back. Just like a Gen3 should be.

The front pocket is large and deep. And you can see the proven pocket configuration.

The small square is a very practical pocket knife pocket, underneath it the flap from the thigh pocket.

There are loops on the thigh as drink holders. The small can isn't ideal, but a 0.5L Coke bottle fits perfectly. Gatorade too.

The small front thigh pockets are almost a trademark of Crye Pants.

Even in the clone, you'll find the height adjustment of the knee pads inside.

The special thing about these pants are the integrated pads that protect your delicate knees from impact with the ground.

For the pants to achieve their great flexibility, they have stretch over and around the knees. It's worth it.

The knee system consists of an attached pocket where the pads go. On the left, it is then assembled.

Crye pads are softer than TMC pads. You might like the latter, but if you don't use them correctly, the stiff pads can come out quickly when kneeling.

On the lower leg, there's the car driver's pocket and the strap to cinch the end of the pants leg tighter.

CONCLUSION: Crye Combat Pants are still Crye Combat Pants and usually we only wear the original. This pants comes very close to the original. The cut is precisely as described, although there is also a "short" version and no "long" version at the moment. The RipStop fabric is of good quality, and we have nothing bad to say about the seams. A durable utility pants for tough use. Great price (no comparison to the original).
