REVIEW: TIL VALHALL Chest Rig "the BASE"

Both the house builder and the soldier in action, and even al-Qaeda, know: the foundation must be right. Til Valhall Warrior Gear also thought the same when they laid the foundation for their Chest Rig System. So, the base is shown in the picture above: a loading that identifies the system as a classic Micro Rig with two shoulder and one waist strap. Every beginning is small: we want to show you how to get to the range with "the BASE" and a few ingredients.

This is the inside of the loading: you can see drain eyes and two Velcro surfaces front and back. This is what makes "the BASE" so flexible because it's up to the user to equip the rig.

On the front of our specimen, we had Multicam Black Velcro. On the back is a sealed Velcro surface. This means the rig is also prepared to end up on a plate carrier as a belly pouch. That is the flexibility we like.

For those who want it light, simply take "the BASE" and close it with the supplied harness.

View from behind: The shoulder straps form a classic X, the waist belt keeps everything in place.

A practical feature that shows how much attention to detail Til Valhall works with: you can interlace the straps so that they stay in place when putting on and taking off. Perfect for wearing comfort.

You can adjust the waist belt in two places. You can fit a lot of stomach in there, we hope you don't need that much belt material. Otherwise, we recommend exercise.

The first ingredient we treat ourselves to is the RIFLE-INSERT 5.56mm (.223), black. We simply call it "the little black one"...

... because it dresses up our magazines so well. The back is all Velcro. it is made for AR15 magazines. we have used Systema PTW magazines here, it feels the same.

The front has strips of Velcro, everything is made to end up in the belly pouch.

We also have these two wonderful parts from TIL VALHALL, which are included with "the BASE". Not a must-have, but extremely practical for those who want to use such a rig in a truly modular way and constantly rebuild it. The problem is called Velcro ...

Velcro sticks everything together, it's hard to put together when you slide it together. Here are the dividers placed around the loaded magazine insert, and this sandwich is now inserted into the belly pouch of "the BASE".

You can also do it like this: First just insert the dividers ...

... and then the 3-magazine insert is added and inserted. It's easy and without hassle.

Simply slide it in until the right position is reached. By the way, it's even easier to insert parts with magazines in place.

And then remove the dividers. You can also work with a sheet of paper or cardboard if you find it difficult to deal with the Velcro, but the Velcro dividers from TIL VALHALL are truly a godsend.

Our base for the range is now ready. First, we put on pistol belts, in front of the chest we have "the BASE" with three magazines, a light and sporty outfit.
