REVIEW: TIL VALHALL Chest Rig "BASE Bundle"

The last time we laid the foundation with TIL VALHALL WARRIOR GEAR, now we start to expand it. "the BASE" is the base, but the "BASE Bundle" is essentially the full Micro Rig. Today we show you the difference and set up the TIL VALHALL Micro Rig in the bundle configuration.

You can see everything you get when you opt for the BASE Bundle. "the Base" at the top is already assembled - HERE you can see what's included. The base is, as mentioned, the most minimalist stage, which is great if you simply don't need more. But now we are expanding with the additionally available items: a second pocket, the half flap, the dividers (usually three are included) and a double velcro insert for pistol magazines.

As mentioned: half flap for velcro attachment, dividers (front), second pocket with pistol insert (back), that's what's included with the Bundle with "the BASE".

The flap creates a separate pocket for things you want to take with you. Velcro at the back for attachment, velcro at the front for closing the pocket. Velcro outside for a patch. That's how we like it.

One of three dividers. They are also simply attached with velcro. You can adapt the back load for your magazines with them. However, we already have the RIFLE-INSERT 5.56mm (.223), black, "the little black one".

And then the pistol insert. This turns the Micro Rig into a complete ammunition carrier that accommodates rifle and pistol magazines. You can decide whether to carry the two usual spare magazines for the pistol on the belt or on the rig. Or both, then they would be four. You can never have enough full magazines with you.

And now it's almost like cooking. First we take the additional load, then come the ingredients.

You can have a lot of fun attaching parts by eye, then it easily takes ten times until you're satisfied. The great velcro dividers that TIL VALHALL provides for this, are extremely practical so that everything sits right the first time you assemble it.

It is also easier to build the rig with filled inserts, so the pistol insert gets our Glock magazines fed.

Here it is simply slid between the two parts. They work like a condom preventing conception: nothing happens yet, not even velcro.

Then we insert a divider to have a nice compartment for the main compartment. You could also do without the pistol magazines and equip the rig with an additional rifle magazine at the front, then you would have a total of four rifle magazines. Or you could also do without the covered compartment and put three magazines with two dividers in the front as well. Then the shooter would have a package with six rifle magazines in front of the chest. Many convincing arguments...

The new compartment is now occupied with pistol magazines and divider. We now have a practical admin compartment free for other essential stuff.

Now the half flap comes into play. (We call it a half flap because there is also a third flap and a full flap - we will present these options in an upcoming review.)

In the back compartment, the half flap is velcroed.

And now it closes the front compartment by going onto the large velcro area on the front of the extension tray. We have a compact package in our hands.

Now we can try to establish the pair bonding by simply velcroing the extension tray to "the Base". It is never that easy to get the perfect fit immediately with such large velcro areas.

Or we first slide a large velcro divider between the compartments and adjust the trays. When we pull the divider, the parts of the micro rigs velcro together perfectly.

The new tray still has a velcro bar at each corner, which we place on the top left inside of "the BASE"...

... and climb in the upper right of "the BASE", the quick connection is ready. Check again, then it will hold until you want to dissolve it again. Velcro is like a marriage.

Another decision you have to make. This is the RIFLE-INSERT 5.56mm (.223), which we used in the rear loading and is set up like the pistol insert.

If you have fears of loss, which can also occur in the relationship with magazines, it is enough to thread in bungee cord and use pull tabs to secure the magazines bombproof.

The necessary parts are included. Have fun building.

We don't need it because we think they sit well without it, and we are happy to have the magazines quickly at hand on the Micro Rig from TIL VALHALL. So let's put the little system on now. Head through the straps, then both hands after and finally put on the waist belt quickly. Ready for battle.

In the side view: the BASE Bundle has two loads, so it naturally carries twice as much. And has twice as much space in the Micro Chest Rig. The good thing, thanks to velcro: it's your decision how you want it. If there's too much in the front - click - get rid of it.

Wearing the BASE Bundle. We like Multicam Black, we damned Gearbitches. All of this is available at TIL VALHALL. Except for the SPARTANAT Patch. That is available exclusively from us HERE.

Oh yes: Options! Options! You could even forgo the admin compartment that you just built, and Velcro a Kydex holster for the pistol into the rig, then you have everything in front of your chest.

We don't do that because we want to fight the worst enemy, hunger. In the current configuration, three SNICKERS fit in the admin compartment. Four even, if one is laid flat over the other three. But it didn't survive long enough with us to be able to put it in the compartment...

CONCLUSION: The BASE Bundle from TIL VALHALL is the compact complete solution for the shooter of the world. You can reduce, but you don't have to. With an initial equipment of three rifle and two pistol magazines, you are ready for everything. Especially if you also always have SNICKERS with you... And one more thing pleases us: Made in Germany!

The TIL VALHALL "BASE Bundle" is available directly from the manufacturer. Steingrau-Olive costs 144.95 euros, the Set in Black costs the same. The Multicam Black "BASE Bundle" is available for 154.95. The BASE Bundles also include the German camouflage versions in 3 color Flecktarn and 5 color Flecktarn for 154.50 each. The RIFLE-INSERT 5.56mm (.223), black shown above costs 19.95.
