Welcome to my website! If you would like to see more of my work, please click here.

The TAC Pack series from Tasmanian Tiger (TT) includes two backpacks. The Tac Pack 22 (here in the review) and the Tac Pack 45. But it's not just about increasing the volume, they have also built in great features. Here is our report.

As the name suggests, the Tac Pack 45 is a 45-liter backpack. These are housed in a compact 65 x 32 x 16 centimeters – so you stay agile and don't carry too much.

With a weight of just under 2.5 kg, Tasmanian Tiger has equipped the backpack with some very nice features, which we will show you during the review.

The Tac Pack is made of 700d Cordura and is equipped with the in-house V2 Plus carrying system . If you are familiar with the Raid Pack MKIII or the Trooper from TT, you will feel right at home with the carrying system, as the same system has been used there.

The V2 Plus can be adjusted in the back length – to do this, open the Velcro closure in the middle of the shoulder straps, slide the Velcro pieces through the slots provided, and adjust the height.

The padding of the carrying system is typically Tasmanian Tiger: two elongated shoulder pads, a pad in the hip area, and the hip belt with lumbar padding. There are air channels in between for better circulation. The pads themselves are made of soft mesh. Here is a lighter for comparison of the depth of the padding:

The backpack is supported by two aluminum struts, which the user can bend according to anatomy. The wings of the hip belt are also reinforced with PE panels and have MOLLE loops on the outside to attach additional equipment.

On the inside of the carrying system, there is an additional foam insert with a PE plate for stabilization.

The special feature of the V2 Plus is that the wearer can remove the hip belt and use the backpack with a battle belt, plate carrier, etc. To do this, release the Velcro on the hip pad and pull the hip belt down. The aluminum struts will then be revealed, which are then inserted into the designated Velcro pockets. Finally, the lumbar padding is folded back up, and the pack is ready for use. This can be seen quite well in the video.

The shoulder straps of the pack are also padded, they also have an adjustable chest strap and D-rings. A quick release system is not present.

To regulate the weight, there are two load straps above the carrying system, which can be easily operated while carrying.

Between the straps, there is a carry handle and a Velcro area for patches.

The Tac Pack 45 is a classic top loader with an additional access on the left side.

This is well hidden behind the elastic side pocket, which is intended for water bottles or similar. Above it are horizontal MOLLE loops and below it an adjustable foot loop for longer items like trekking poles, etc.

The right side of the pack has no access, but a deep, elastic side pocket. The MOLLE loops above it are similar to the opposite side, there is no foot loop here.

On both sides, there are V-shaped compression straps above the pockets, which can be easily opened with two Fastex buckles.

On the front is an expandable pocket with a zipper. This can be opened in the middle, behind it is an elastic material that secures the contents from falling out. Additionally, the open pocket can be closed at the top with a Fastex buckle.

When not in use, this compartment lies flat and does not interfere, but provides plenty of space – a helmet can also be stored here.
