REVIEW: TASMANIAN TIGER Plate Carrier QR SK Anfibia

02/19/2022By Redaktion

The Anfibia could be an amphibian, but it doesn't have to be. The TASMANIAN TIGER Plate Carrier QR SK Anfibia is an attractively designed plate carrier that is made for everyday use and is about the size of a JPC. TT has come up with an innovative solution, even in terms of material.

Looking at the front of the item, here are the technical specifications:

  • Includes two elastic pockets
  • Suitable for SAPI plates ranging from 30 x 25 cm to 33 x 27 cm
  • Compatible with TT Mag Pouches VL
  • Length-adjustable, elastic MOLLE side panel with quick-release buckle
  • Quick-release system with ROC buckle
  • Compatible with TT Molle Hyp Belt
  • Shoulder straps adjustable from min. 23 cm to max. 40 cm

Where a JPC is made of Cordura and Hypalon, TT has taken a completely different path and used TPU CORDURA® 700. This means that everything is made of the same material. And everything is laser-cut.

On the shoulders, there are flexible pads with cable tunnels.

And then there are quick release buckles on the Anfibia as well. TASMANIAN TIGER relies on ROC - here on the shoulders (right and left) ...

... and also on the abdomen, here also right and left.

The opening direction is downwards. Quick-release buckles are very practical because you can easily open the carrier or quickly discard it in an emergency.

The Cumberbund is also made entirely of TPU CORDURA® 700 and laser-cut.

Here is the back view with an integrated Cumberbund. There are velcro surfaces on the back and front, thanks to patches.

The Anfibia is "one size fits most". Adjustment is done via the velcro shoulder straps - as mentioned, you can adjust from 23 cm to max. 40 cm.

The Cumberbund is looped and secured with a massive shock cord. It's straightforward, practical, and doesn't press, as you wear a SAPI plate underneath.

If you have a slim build, the strap from the Cumberbund will overlap. If you are a solid build, this is the potential you need.

There is the shock cord as a mounting. Untie it, adjust, re-loop it, and tie it back - that's the adjustment process.

When we look through the cut laminate, we see another fabric.

This is the plate pocket, made of a flexible mesh.

Here, the SAPI plate is simply inserted.

The result is a plate pocket that fits perfectly with the carrier. However, you can also wear the SPI without this cover.

The plate is simply velcroed into the Anfibia.

This is what the mounting system looks like when worn on the front or back.

Without the plate, the Anfibia is a lightweight item, at 765 grams, and unisex. Very lightweight, waterproof, indeed minimalist...

CONCLUSION: A super practical plate carrier in a great design at a great price. For those who like, you can also combat swim with Anfibia. But it also performs great, especially on land, as a minimalist carrier in JPC format.

The TASMANIAN TIGER Plate Carrier QR SK Anfibia is available for 154.90 in the colors OD, Khaki, Coyote Brown, and Black - retailers listed on the TASMANIAN TIGER website.
